We have something awesome. It has been super cold here lately and really rainy. So this little guy came in just in time um and i have been testing it. This week i have bound it up. I have flown it on various whoops around the house and i have to tell you guys right away. Let’S just jump right into this. I i, the tea light to me is everything that i wanted. The x light to be from fr sky years ago and then about 100 vezes melhor, mainly because why it is a full blown four in one module in this one. Então, with external module base support, it is going to be the light version of the external module bay, but we still can have crossfire ghost and r9 slim on there, so that is really really cool. So this one comes in around 65 dólares, which is amazing price for something that also works with a simulator. Ele tem 18650 Apoio, uh open tx on here haul gimbals stickers in the box, which actually these look kind of cool. Eu, like these little dudes, Eu vou, probably stick those on my toolbox. You get some quick start guide in here with some specs as well. This radio is a 2.4 rádio, but if you’re using the module in the back, it will convert over to an external power and you will be able to add whatever protocol is supported for the system. Software of the open, tx tlight open, tx firmware, which is awesome.
So we have an open tech, tx supported firmware on this radio. This is already flash with open. Tx no need to do anything crazy and i believe at this current update. It also supports immersion rc ghost. So if you get the light version of that module bam, it comes with the external module support dock right here and there’s a hole right between right behind here and it plugs into the slots. Just underneath the back of this. So around six seven eight screws release this back plate and then you can get in there and plug this in. You also get some extra hardware you get. I think it was four different screws, but i only put three here that’s all you need to hold this on and in place and if you have it seated properly, it shouldn’t interfere with that tray for your battery door. So i did notice that you need the button up 18650 style of battery for this. It will run for about six hours, which is great um. It also does not have reverse polarity protection on this, so if you turn this around the other way and plug it in like that, it will fry this little guy, so it will damage the internal module. So try not to do that. You want to have negative here positive here, and i also had to bend this out just tiny bit here and here so i took just a little tiny, screwdriver and just kind of bent this out a little bit so that it would make a solid connection.
So in there it’s the wrong way, it’s got to be the right way or we’re going to destroy the radio if we turned it on so now we can slap this back on there and my external module bay is all ready to go ready for ghost or Crossfire so that’s super sweet, and i have to tell you the comfort and feel of this feels pretty good. It fits in my hands it’s the size of i mean it might even be a little bit smaller than a playstation controller, é que é, realmente pequeno. I should go grab a controller and just compare it for you, but for something to keep at your desk and fly simulators. This thing is perfect um that is really really great up at the very top. We have that port right there for the simulator support. We have two mounts right here and what these are there is a stand. You can get little kickstand here that will hold an fpv monitor, so it can have its own cute little fpv, monitor on here. If you want to fly a line of sight so to speak, and you also have usbc supported 18650 internal charging, which is also really really good, we have four switches on this one. I kind of wish it had – maybe a few more momentary ones in the back. Maybe i don’t know, but we have two position switches on the very bottom. We have three position switches up top, but honestly i don’t you ever really use more than about four different modes inside betaflight, so it’s pretty much all you need anyway, so we’re using swa swc here, swb swd.
We also have controls on the front as well enter return up down and all these buttons down here. These are your trims up down and left and right there. We also have system and model there and a super bright, led little jumper sort of logo there and a 1.3 inch led screen that is actually backlit and super bright. So you’ll see open, tx load up right there and looks like we need a little bit of shielding there, but man it’s really hard to see that and i’ll have to maybe adjust when we go into the menus and and show you guys sort of some. Some navigation inside the menus there it goes so now you guys can see we’re on model three. You can create as many models as you want, but to be able to use lua scripts and other options. You will need to put the micro sd card in there as well and uh it. It could support a lot of models with the internal memory so which is also kind of cool. It does have also a haptic buzzer in here, so it does vibrate like the regular standard, full size radios, but look at the difference in size. Here i mean this is like so much smaller than my tx16s. I mean if you’re gon na buy two radios this year. You would do yourself like a happy birthday service. If you got yourself both of these, these are going to be my sort of go to radios.
For now i am going to be using this one. Quite a bit for a lot of my micro flying for you guys. This just makes things so easy. Now the navigation in these two radios is going to be drastically different. This one is going to be more like your old school x7 from fr sky, but with the full blown multi protocol modules in there, so really cool that you can be able to select up to about 100 different models and that’s what’s. So great about radio master series and jumper series radios, whereas the old school x7 would only do fr sky receivers, so xm plus and other stuff so also r9 support. But now we have multi protocol on so many different radios to choose from so a big difference between these two screens. Obviamente, this one’s full color it’s not touch screen or anything, but navigation in this one is super easy if you are a beginner. This is pretty much the same type of internal interface that this is it’s just kind of shrunk down into this led format. So let’s go ahead and go into the menus. Now you guys have an idea of what this radio is all about, so to be able to page over here, you should be able to hit the page here. This is also the page button it’s also the model button, um i’ll, just back up there, a little bit here for you, we’re gon na, have to turn off that backlight.
So you guys can’t see that let me go ahead and stop and then restart. Okey, so we’re back online here and i just went into the system settings i went to radio setup and then i went to brightness and you can see i have it turned down to five now and that is adjustable. You can go in there and adjust that. I don’t see that um. I have any way to turn the brightness of this down, but we’ll just have to deal with that, mas 12. You guys can still see it. So i’ll put it to about 10 there and then i’m going to go ahead and hit return button, and that should take me back out of there and you go. You know guys, while we’re in there let’s go ahead and go to the system menu, and i will show you that we are running and hit page again to get over to your current version. Here we are running opentx lite, which was also built recently in january 14th. So a very recent version of open, tx lite, so super cool that they have their own version from opentx. So jumper is working with opentx to make firmware for this radio. Então é, not like a you know, fly by the seat of a pants kind of firmware on this radio, which is really really awesome. That is truly supported, so you also have firmware options down here and if you click on that it’ll show you.
We have crossfire. Ghost afhds3 we have internal multi protocol and multi module and lua scripting as well, but you won’t be able to use the lewis grips until you use your sd card and load them up there. So you got to have all your external folders separately, so we’re going to go ahead and return back and remember. The model button is actually the page button which is also kind of confusing. They should put model and page there but that’s how you’re going to move across these menus now we’re going to hit return and go all the way back out and we can hit model again this time and i’m on model 3.. You can see there how much battery life is on my battery. Meu 18650 could use a little charge there, but we’re gon na go ahead again and let me try to remember how to get into this model man. You know it was tricky there. Então, okey, it took me straight in now i’m in the model menu and i can go up and down and i can navigate things. I can change the model name here. If i put enter it’ll. Take me through all that process, but i’m not going to bore you with that. We have two. I believe three different timers on here as well, just like the full blown version. So if we go up and keep going up, it takes us to the very bottom, which is nice at the bottom of that list.
And now we can change from external rf internal rf, que é legal, so external rf right now is off, and that is going to turn on your external module back here. So if you’re playing around with r9 ghost or you’re playing around with crossfire that’s, how you’re going to turn this on and we can press enter there to select it and then we can go up to ppm xjt, dsm, 2 crossfire crsf, multi, r9m and ghost. Is there check that out isn’t that cool and s bus, so we’re going to go back to off we’re, going to turn that off and one of the other things you want to do is set your fail safe to no pulses if you’re a new guy? Do that for sure and binding up a receiver? Is the exact same with this radio for pretty much all the the other open, tx radios out there, including the tx16s? Então, if you’ve already bound up something with this you’ll be able to do it with this super easy um. All you do is select the right protocol for your receiver, so we’re going to use fr sky x here, we’ll go down, let’s go ahead and make that d8 and i’ll press enter press the up down button to go down to d8 and hit return and come Out and then we have aetr that’s going to be the way we have our sticks set up so that’s, typically how i do it in betaflight and channel range 1 através 16.
. Este é um 16 channel radio and we’re going to go down again: receiver we’re going to leave zero and if we press the model button that will bring us over to bind so that remember, that’s your page button. So that brings you over and now you can press enter and you turn on your quad and you press the bind button, and now you should be bound to your quad, de modo que é sobre tudo. You need to do to bind up your receiver super cool, so we’re going to go back down again, and i want to show you one other thing here in this review and sort of overview of this tea light we’re going to go to frequency tune here, and This not set for that particular receiver. So if you want to do the frequency tune on your quad, put your quad about three feet away from the transmitter turn on everything: rádio, first quad next uh with effort sky protocol, it doesn’t really matter, but frequency tune. What you’re going to do is you’re going to turn on your receiver once your radio and your quad are connected you’re going to press on enter here and you’re just going to keep going up. Primeiro, all the way up until it fail safes. So when you hear it fail, safe you’ll hear a telemetry lost and then you want to go all the way down until you hear it lose it again, so you want to take the average in between those two numbers in in my case, my testing, just like Gout tremors mine was around three so that’s, where i’m going to leave this and so i’m going to press enter here and then we’re going to return.
So that is pretty much the model menu there there’s a whole bunch of different stuff. You can get into um. If you know you can go crazy with this particular radio and open tx, however um you can scroll over to the next page heli setup, we have flight modes here, you can add more switches, then we can hit model again. Vamos., remember that’s. Your page button aetr is the way they have it set up. Isto é, really nice and we’ll go over outputs. We have curves logical switches, special functions, rssi critical alarm, countdown timer, all that cool stuff in here, so all that stuff can vary in between your models. So you can really customize your models nicely with this radio and running open tx, but i think it’s super cool that they support so many different protocols as well. We we have on the internal module. Temos, i mean there’s, a there’s, a list of them on the banggood website. If you go to the website at the very bottom of the page past the crossfire, nano and ghost information, it shows you i’ll put it on the screen right here. For you guys to see it shows you all the different protocols that they’re featuring, which is really really rad, but to see them in the radio you’re just going to go up to the very top, and the multi protocol has to be selected here for the mode And then you can go down one, and this is the type of receiver you’re using so fr skyd there d8 and we can press enter and then you can scroll through all the different ones, and we have so many here to choose from futaba.
I mean bang yang toys like hubsan, i mean high tech and the list just keeps going on and on jjrc that’s amazing. I haven’t flown a jrc quad in forever. Those are just little toy drones that we used to have on the channel kind of bang them around and have fun with them. But i mean look at this list. Radio link in there as well so real acc, there’s radio link, de modo que é, muito bom, red pine, sema, traxxas let’s go drive some cars, fpv cars. You guys ever do that well, cara. I haven’t seen one of those in a long time. Wfly i’m sure wl. Toys is in here as well: Música, xk, muito legal, so tons of stuff here for 401 multi protocol module and um. Another note that they tell you just absolutely make sure you. You read the warnings on this radio. You don’t want to turn this. On the first day, you get it if you’re a brand new guy. Please don’t turn on without this antenna on here. With the internal module active, it will fry it and you won’t be able to use your antenna anymore or any antenna and, as a matter of fact, so you might not. Actually it might uh yeah it’ll screw things up. So what you want to do is, if you decide you want to move this, remove this antenna. The only way you can remove this is, se você está, using external module. So if you, if you’re traveling and stuff – and you want this to be a little less – you know worried about it breaking if you’re using the external module.
You know don’t worry about having it on if you’re, using the external module. That will be fine, just don’t switch it back while it’s on, because you will fry it um. Também na caixa. You get this empty 18650 case and i i thought maybe like somebody in customs had like stolen my 18650s, when i first saw this i’m, like oh man, this guy’s like took off on my 18650s. Maybe they were just a problem on the airplane or something getting here, but you’ll also get this cable which again charges the internal battery the 18650, o que é muito bom. Now you know i i wish that the battery lasted a little longer. Six hours, Embora, should get us a full day of flying i’m, usually not flying longer than six hours total radio time. So i think that’s acceptable and with the addition of external module bay on here for light style, longo alcance, transmissor, receptores, Isto é, Isto é, really awesome, hum, Isto é, super cool, so ghost support already in the new firmware and a very recent firmware from opentx makes this one. A super cool catch so i’m trying to remember if there’s anything else, i could show you guys before i end this review, but let’s just go ahead and see if i can figure out how to get this thing to balance on here. This is such a tiny little scale: okey, so we’re, olhando para 257.2 grams with the 18650 in there and the module external module bay on there.
So not the hardest thing in the world to put the external module bay on there just take your time and be very careful another one more tip before i let you guys go when you’re putting this screw through the back. There are a series of wires on here, if you guys can see those but be very careful and tuck these in there properly and make sure make damn sure that you don’t screw that screw straight through those wires, because they will be very close and just kind Of stick that through that screw all the way through this back plate and make sure you’re not touching those wires at all when this is going through, but cool little radio and it’s definitely going to be seen on the channel here. And this is going to be one that i absolutely recommend for you guys um to pick up, because the price is just super super great, so um really portable, really small and feels like a full size transmitter which i love. So thanks again guys for hanging out on the drum cams channel. This has been the jumper t, light super small little fpv transmitter with everything. In there i mean it’s, just so cool four in one everything you want pick up. The right version, Embora, make sure, when you check out the link down below that you grab the jp 41 versão. É. 75 bucks cc 2500 65 dólares, but again you’re not going to get all the protocols so go for the jp, 401 and you’ll be all set for this year for your full size, Quads 5 polegada.
You know you could fly a 10 inch on this squad. If you wanted to um with a long range receiver on there, no problems, but thanks again for watching my channel guys, hopefully you enjoyed the overview and uh sort of like very first look at the tea light. Há, not a lot of reviews out there.
