com and in this video we're. Taking a look at how i tested the tracking system and obstacle avoidance for the dji mavic air in a few different situations, including low light sports tracking and the forest, follow me my first test with the mavic air 2 was in a low light environment. It was basically sunset time in the forest also was about to rain and, as you can see here, it did work for a while, but i was slightly disappointed. The tracking didn't work so well, Music. You will get notified if the light isn't enough for proper tracking directly from the jab it wasn't all bad. It just had a few issues from time to time. I must admit i wasn't really prepared for the weather at that moment, so i actually recommend you have a checklist before you go flying. If you want to see my proper checklist for any drone pilot to have before any flight and to basically make a habit out of it, you can download the checklist right here or in the description it's for free when it comes to sports or following cars. This drone has no issues keeping up with basically anything as it can fly up to 43 kilometers per hour in normal mode and 68 kilometers per hour in sport mode. This means you can track most sports like biking and even a car that's driven slower. If you wish, in this case, you can see that, even though it was a pretty low light environment, the drone successfully managed to track my friend in the forest, dodged the leaves that were coming in its path and maintain a pretty cinematic feel to this entire shot.
When it comes to blind spots, we're mainly looking at the lack of lateral sensors, which makes it a bit dangerous to track something like flying sideways after seeing how well it can track, i got more and more confidence in it. It does come with a side tracking mode besides the standard one which can be useful for some interesting effects. Where you follow the subject and keep the background moving too in daytime, i really think it's doing a great job. The drone can it did crash as nothing is perfect, but i wanted to put it through a more scary test if you could say so and decided to let it follow me while running through a very tight forest with trees and branches all over the place. Now, let's see what happened as you can see in the video it started quite rough as it had to take some really sharp turns around some leaves, even while starting Music, it had absolutely no issue dragging me through the forest. While i am walking slowly. So i decided to actually start running a bit Music. There was a critical moment here where i thought it surely will crash, but guess what it somehow did, a magic dance around the bushes and go through. There are a few moments where it stops and recalculates, but it certainly manages really well Music. I started running at my maximum speed and even in this situation, it could easily avoid the branches at its maximum speed.
It reached 22 kilometers per hour because i simply couldn't run faster Music. Now when i turn backwards, you could see on my face. I was panicking a bit since it got pretty close to a tree, but the problem was that it was on its side where it didn't have any sensors. I would say it's safe to fly backwards too, as long as it's only for a short time and it's, not in a complicated environment like this, where there could be trains in every direction thanks to its backwards, detecting sensor, i am pretty confident the crash wouldn't happen. If i was simply flying backwards, but sideways not so much on its way back, it did stop before hitting a branch, so the collision detection seems to work pretty spot on this one Music, Music, so Music, the mavic air 2, does regain the subject after losing it. As long as it appears in the frame in a short time, i was quite impressed with how cinematic some of the shots turned out to be, and everything was done automatically by the drone, no buttons touched by me, Music.
