I'd rather buy a second drone (Mavic Air) as a backup to my MP2 than this over priced controller. That's just me.

What I would like to know if there is a better connection to the drone. Living in a large city, I constantly get MAG INTERFERNCE or I need to "re calibrate my drone. Sometimes I'm in LOS and
the drone is only 400 feet away and I lose connection. Before I pop out 749 dollars, that is important to me.
The bright screen would be so helpful though, I'm tiered of turning away from the sun when I'm supposed to be facing my drone at times. Also, I curios about the antenna's. If you look at the DJI controller that comes with the MAVIC 2, if the drone is over head, the manual says to lay the antennas flat. If I don't, I lose connection directly over my head which is always hit or miss. I wish the controller DJI gives you would have some consistency in keeping a good connection when I'm in clear LOS and I'm not that far. I noticed this controller is a bit more limited as it can't fold over the controller, just straight up.

I have purchased this controller a while back. Although I love it and use it often, it has a fatal flaw. The DJI Go4 app crashes frequently when the drone is in flight and recording. I have read many reviews and watched many videos on how to fix it and nothing corrects this problem, including many email and file exchanges with DJI.
A very sad story for such an expensive device.

My note 9 is not on the compatible list of phones to use, but I do have a great data package with hot-spot. Will this controller be the answer to my problems if I wanted to purchase a mavic pro 2 with smart controller?
This is a bit late but I just bought the mavic 2 pro and smart controller, I'm very happy but cant understand why you cant dial up the battery discharge time i,e 4 days to 10 days as this feature isn't listed in the battery details within the go4 app on the smart controller?

Every video I've seen so far starts assuming a lot of knowledge on the part of the viewer. I just got my Mavic 2 Pro yesterday, and the features are left in a blur when the speaker says "the menus are the same as you are used to." Beg pardon? I haven't had time to get used to anything yet. Perhaps there is a video that doesn't tout two or three things and leave the basic operation to the viewer's imagination if someone could direct me to it. I have picked up some bits and pieces so not a waste of time, but all I did today was fly within about 25' of me, maybe 25' of altitude (is there an altitude reading on the display?) and just nudged it around a little. Oh, and sometimes there is no camera video on the screen – probably a simple "home" button but the DJI instruction manuals are so tiny as to be literally unreadable. And another thing …..
At its core, yes its expensive. But if you are savvy, it can be cheap. I just bought mine from BestBuy for only $490 how so cheap you ask?? i simply bought two other cheap accessories and it knocked off 25% from the price….then on top of that, i sold my DJI Mavic 2 Pro controller (since i dont need it anymore) for $300…..so i basically only about $200 on the Smart Controller…not bad right?
Like in most the industries, when people endorse a product, they should have their full DISCLOSURES in public first, so that the viewers will be aware of possible inherent bias.
DJI let us, the owners of the Phantom 4pro+, hanging with a dated version of the DJI GO4 app, no support whatsoever, and with their Unfulfilled promise of allowing us to download and use third party apps with the Phantom 4pro+ controller. That exact thing is going to happened to the owners of this Not that "Smart" Controller… DO NOT BUY THIS GIMMICKY product, or you'll be stuck with this version of the DJI GO4 app for ever…
That's why I sold my Phantom 4pro+ and got a new Mavic 2pro with regular controller…
