Jumper T-Lite ❎ Crossfire Nano TX Module Update 🤔
I actually had to go, buy one of these uh to make this video, and actually i had to wait for these new molly cell 18650. Lithium ion batteries to come in, 这是一个 35 amp maximum amp draw 18650 it’s a pretty high quality cell. So this is what jumper was recommending for using uh the crossfire nano tx on one watt, and so i got all this stuff to see. If their claim was true – and i guess uh we’ll have to – i guess what to see – i guess you have to wait and see as to whether or not it’s actually true or not i’m gon na save that for a little bit later. But let me just go over a little bit of a background as to um. You know why i’m even bothering testing this, because most people are like well. This is a toy radio, just get the tango 2 与多协议模块, which of course, you know this is a very good radio. I’Ve used it for a while with the multi protocol module in the back here in the ir range x. This is the tango 2 pro version, which is like 200 and then the module in the back is like 50. So this is like about 250. 我相信 – and you can also get the non pro version which doesn’t have the collapsible gimbal sticks, but it’s pretty much. The same for forty dollars less or you could get the um uh tbs multi protocol module, 对于, i think about sixty dollars about ten dollars more for the module.
If you wan na go that route so pretty similar, so you’re talking, you know roughly 210 至 260. In the range for something like this in this setup here versus the t light coming in at 75, with the internal multiprotocol module and the um crossfire, nano tx is coming in at about uh 70 美元, i believe so, 70 加 75, so it’s about um 145. For this setup here versus about 210 至 260 for this setup here now for me, i have been trying to use the tango 2 有一段时间了. Now i just cannot get used to the stiff gimbal sticks, which is why i’m kind of wanting to go back to the sticks, uh the gimbals of the tea light, which are the ones from the t12 which i actually liked, and i can fly much better on And i don’t know if you guys have noticed tonight at least i’ve noticed my flying has gotten worse on this radio i’ve genuinely have been trying to give this radio a chance because it’s good radio, i mean it works totally fine, functionally it’s. Just that i cannot get used to these stiff gimbal sticks. 是, i have opened it up. I have changed the springs to the lower tensions springs. The the original springs were definitely a no go for me. I couldn’t barely fly with those, but even with the lower tensions, uh springs in here i just felt like my flying was not improving.
事实上, this was, i feel, like it’s declined on these gimbals so i’m, trying to go back to this here and see. If i can get this setup to work with the crossfire, nanotx Music, now just a little background on my setup here for the original tango 2, which i think is important to know. If you go in here and you go to the crossfire menu let’s see. If i get this on camera, this is going to be hard to see. The brightness of the screen is way off. 好的, so you can kind of see there. I normally fly on a max power of 250 milliwatts with dynamic power on and for the longest time. I’Ve this is the actually the the tango 2 pro with the v3 board and for the long time i didn’t even bother upgrading the firmware because it does. This will go up to 1 瓦特, so you can see there. That option is now. I actually upgraded the firmware, so i can show you that option. I never even flew it. Never bothered, because this 250 ml watts was plenty for me and i’ve, always flown with dynamic power on that was just fine for my particular uses and um. You know i didn’t really have i didn’t really feel like i needed 500 ml watts or one watt. I do have the full size crossfire as well, but that’s something i’d actually just use for reviews for comparison and stuff like that.
I don’t actually fly it. So i mainly flew crossfire on this one at 250, milliwatts now uh. If you’re trying to get 250 ml watts with dynamic power to work on this one here it does work fine with the 18650 molex. 也, let me show you my settings here, so we’ll go into crossbar menu and actually i have 500 ml watts per done currently, but only uh. Let me just show you that it will work on 500 ml watts i’m going to power up this receiver. I have here and it’s already bound and you can see the green light we have a. This is bound already to this particular receiver. 好的, so on 500 ml watts, with dynamic power on got a green light, 没关系, 显然 250 milliwatts with uh dynamic power on will work as well um, and even i believe, if i don’t think uh, i don’t think i actually tested this out. If we go into here and change this to uh one watt, you know go ahead and change it to one watt with dynamic power on still have the bind. Everything is just fine, so let’s go back to 250 ml watts with dynamic power, turned off and makes these everything’s still fine as well. Let me go ahead and turn off the tango tier, so it’s not interfering, get that out of the way, so on 250 milliwatts with dynamic power on no problems, everything was working just fine and we see we have our connection here.
Now you see the this is a fully charged 18650 battery and the i don’t trust this voltage reading here on the from the jumper the t light, it seems to be a little bit erratic, especially as the voltage gets lower, it’s just kind of all over the Place so i did charges fully, as i was doing this testing to show you that it’s actually working now, i actually tested this before with just the battery. I just put the battery in as when i, when i first got it, which came, came storage charge it’s. Three and a half volts per cell, which is pretty low and none of this stuff was working with just uh the battery uh. Basically at storage voltage, three and a half volts percent, the voltage sagged pretty quickly to three and a half volts per cell or i’m. Sorry three point three volts per second: you get these uh battery low warnings and then the the connection here would start flickering for the actually the module start losing power which was kind of strange um, because there’s a voltage regulator. You can’t see right here’s, a little board here and that’s actually voltage regulator that takes the power from the uh battery. So what’s, going on with the power inside the radio radios there’s a 1s battery here feeds power to the main board and then there’s a voltage regulator. I think there’s a 3.3 volt voltage regulator that feeds power to the board and then there’s another, then that board.
This main board supplies power to this adapter here that goes to screw down to the back of the tea light and in this adapter there’s a boost bolt voltage regulator, a boost back that boosts, 我认为, it’s from like 3.8 volts to seven point, eight volts, which Reads: the module itself so i’m thinking that the problems aren’t necessarily the battery itself, but maybe this backup this little voltage regulator that’s, boosting the voltage to feed this module, not a hundred percent sure in that that’s. What seems to be going on when i start raising the power which i will do here now so we’re at you know four volts and everything is fine and we’re running our dynamic power. Um let’s go back into the crossfire config. You know we’re 250 ml watts with dynamic power turned off, so this is basically uh transmitting at 250 milliwatts to the receiver. If you turn dynamic power on it’ll actually transmit a lower power and as the receiver gets further away, it’ll start boosting with the power. So as you’re closer, the power is lower and and then as a signal degrades or as the link quality get degrades. It will boost the power to the from the transmitter side so that it can maintain that that connection to the the link quality connection to the receiver and that’s what how dynamic power works so that’s, why we’re using dynamic power off? So if i go to here and we’ll raise it to 500 milliwatts with the dynamic power off here we go.
So this is where we get the problems, get telemetry lost. Here we go so this is it so it might be because i’m kind of close as it is. It is transmitting 500 milliwatts of power, so that’s a possibility, because it’s too close but i’m thinking that it has something i’m. Thinking that this module here is not getting enough power from this voltage regulator and when you go to 500 milliwatts this whole system, just kind of breaks down so let’s go back in here you can see the voltage is starting to drop to 3.9 it’s kind of Fluctuating so right now i have no connection and i can still i can still access the settings for the crossfire module. So i go in here and now it’s kind of slow. You see that’s not responding. I think this because it doesn’t have enough power. So i can’t even get into the settings here for the crossfire module, see some very strange things are happening. You got nothing on here so i’m thinking this doesn’t have enough power, so i’m going to have to shut this down and i’m going to actually disconnect this receiver. 好吧, let’s get into the gon na get into the module settings quickly. Yeah see it’s, not responding. So i got to change this from 250 ml watts to or 500 ml watts to 250 ml watts like that with dynamic car off, and then everything will return to normal yeah, so obviously no receiver so plug that receiver back in and we got a green lights.
New green light over here – oh it went away, should have a connection now yeah, no connection. Now this is too close, possibly yeah. It looks like now it’s, not even connecting. Let me go ahead and turn off the uh radio turn back on. So this, 我认为, has to do with the voltage regulator. 那是, feeding the module, still no connection, telemetry lost interesting. It did not save the power. Setting went back to 500 milliwatts so i’m going to change it back to 250 ml watts, 音乐. 好的, this this, i know, is definitely stable. You see the voltage went back up to four volts at 250, milliwatts so i’m, thinking that at 500 milliwatts the power draw is too much for the module for this voltage regulator to handle and that’s, where i think that’s, where the problems are coming and i’m. Thinking that what is going on with jumper’s claim is they’re actually going into the settings here and they’re setting this to is dynamic. Power is set to on and then the max power you can set to one watt and the connection’s. Still there, the voltage doesn’t go down any because we’re close it’s working on one watt, but it’s done with dynamic power on go back in here. I’Ll show you that again we have dynamic power turned on here, and that seems to be fine. So when you turn dynamic power off where it’s trying to transmit at one watt, that’s or 500 ml watts, it seems to that’s where i think the where the problems are.
So you see one watt, it’s working. I think they’re claiming that’s, where i think that’s, where their claim is they’re not actually specifying whether they’re using dynamic power on or off and i’m pretty sure that’s with they’re doing it they’re doing their testing with dynamic power on which, 答案是肯定的, it’ll work. 但然后, when you fly far away, you’re going to have all kinds, because the stars will start increasing the power draw and then you’re going to probably have a fail safe. So i would like to see more details on their testing, because this is a high quality cell that’s in here, and they just say, use a high quality cell um. So this should work but i’m thinking that the way they design the power system in here is just not going to work on one watt at full power, so you’re gon na i’m gon na have to probably revisit this in terms of how to modify this system. To get it to work me, which you probably want to do, if you think about making this modification, 是呃., get a better voltage regulator, that’s wired directly to the battery, instead of through the main board, so there’s a basically, the power is going to shuttle from Them from the battery to the main board to this voltage regulator to the module, but instead rewire it to go straight from the battery to a voltage regulator that goes to the module now. The i think the disadvantage of that is.
The power is always going to be flowing to the module bay, so you’ll have to disconnect the module whenever the um or put the or put the mod or put that bc on some sort of a switch or something. So you can turn it off power on and off, but what’s interesting is that you can see i’m using the external, this sound of crossfire for the external module. But if i switch my model to like uh one of the internal uh protocol or with the internal module instead select freesky, actually i’ll, select that go ahead and disconnect there so now i’m, actually using the internal module. But the external module is still getting power. And what i find strange is that when i was originally doing these testing on on this, when i switched to the internal module, this external module will power off. So something weird has happened right, maybe or something broke when i was doing this, this testing, maybe the the the excessive power draw, maybe broke something where this doesn’t this shouldn’t shut off. When you, when you switch the internal module, this the power to the external module, should get cut off, you can see, you still have power to the external module, still power here, so bind on the receiver but i’m using the internal module, so i’ve actually been using This, where i’ve actually been just disconnecting the external module when i’m flying the internal module, so yeah there’s a lot of stuff that needs to be kind of reworked.
Here i think, to get it to work now. I’Ve, i have been just when i, when i just want to use crossfire i’ve just been flying. It um, like i’ve, been flying the tango 2 上 250 milliwatts power with dynamic power on and that works totally fine. On the setup with the the uh, the high quality cell, so you know for me: it’s fine for meets my needs and i get to fly with the gimbals. 一世, like so i’m, probably going to stick with this, even though i’m not getting i’m, not really taking the full advantage of the external module because it does go to one watt. And if i want to do that, maybe i will um try and find some way to modify this if you are interested in sort of a power setup like a like. Basically a modification video. Let me know in the comments below not sure how many people that this would interest, but i think that you know in in those cases we want to fly one watt just go to the tango two, 喜欢, 我认为, 它, probably what i’ll do if i ever Need to which, which is like almost never, but if i ever watch i could always do that, but i think that this you know if you’re considering this and considering the tango two and you’re going to be in that camp to be flying one watt. You know if you want that maximum power um to get to get the tingle too don’t deal with this, and this is kind of a headache to kind of deal with this mess.
But if you’re in that camp, 在哪里, 像我一样, 我们 250 milliwatts is fine, you know even 200 watts with dynamic power off then yeah. This seems like it’s working now, as you get the as the voltage drops here. As you start you, if you’re using it a lot as this voltage, gets close to three and a half volts you’re gon na have problems so you’re gon na wan na raise your low voltage alarm to like 3.6 伏, and this, 答案是肯定的, is you know, it’s Going to limit how long you can use the battery you know in terms of capacity you have to, 你知道的, probably charge it up. More often, i guess that’s one of the trade offs. You know i always try and keep my batteries around uh 3.6 or higher anyway, especially on the tango 2, because this isn’t a lithium ion battery here, it’s a lipo battery so usually when it gets down to like 3.63 3.7 i’m charging it up anyway. I don’t usually let the battery go lower than that anyway, so yeah you can get uh. You can go to a lower voltage on an 18650 lithium ion battery, but after about 3.3 伏 3.4 volts generally speaking to about 80 90 of the capacity of the battery is gone at that point anyway and you’re going to want to recharge the battery. 在这一点上, 好吧, so this video is super long. Hopefully i have. I have been able to answer your questions regarding how this you know how this works, with the the nano transmitter and uh what you can use it for and what you shouldn’t use it for okay, that’s gon na do for this video talk to you guys.
