HELLO RYAN!I have that model, but my problem is… DON'T TURN ON!! i see the videos, and in the moment of connect the battery a red light turn on, but no in my case! help me please, i can't flying my "toy"
hi again , is this any good outdoors???
Hi Flyin. Do you know how to reset udi 818A ??
Thank from Mexico.
Hi Ryan, I'm a beginner and I am choosing between Syma X11 and U816a
Syma: Longer battery time, cheaper
u816a: Die hard protection,cool looks
I really don't know which one is better. I have flown the LS113 and I am looking fir more durability and battery time. Which one is betterm
Hey Ryan any chance that protection ring would would work with the UDI 816? It's available as spare partsThanks
Does the charger it comes with have two ports for charging two batteries?
Wish I had seen this before buying My kids friend a U207 as his first quad, That thing broke one of the frame arms on 1st impact and it was a light impact at that. A lil super glue and it was back up again, but I am ordering this one as a good replacement anyway.
Was going to buy for ma son, but they sold out. It's all you faught! Damn reviewers lol!
Hello… I realy want this quadcopter but it is not avaible in the netherlands :(… But do you know another quadcopter with good protection for beginners? (Avaible in the netherlands)
got mine today at your suggestion I am brand new to it all can you tell me if I'm looking at mine and it on a flat level surface I give it a little throttle and it wants to move to the right so I guess in reality to the left do I need to trim it back to the right?
hay did Ryan did you have any problem with the cable that conects to the batery
Weird suggestion for starters, almost every cheap quad with plastic propguards flies 10times better and is way nicer to learn with. Back in Jan 2013 I would assume thats an okay suggestion, but now? No way! The Nano Qx clones, Eachine/JJRC H8's, H10, 1000 or even Yizhan x4 all are better choices and cheaper.
How easy are these to replace the motors?
hey ryan is there a way to calibrate this craft i have the redcat whirlwind and i need to calibrate any words ?
Compared to the syma x5 which one is better for simply flying outside my house and snapping a couple pictures?
Hi Ryan, I enjoy your reviews. With so many quads its nice to filter it down to a few. I am a newly and waffeling between the Blade Nano xq, the Hubsan x4 107 or the SYMA x11. Now I've seen your review on the UDI U616. My goal is to move up to aerial photography but I realize I need some training wheels first. Money is not really an issue other than to try to keep the first one reasonably priced, around $100 (in Canada) Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers Dave
Can you also fly this out side
Thanks for all the great videos and reviews. I'm a newbie to RC flying and I purchased one of these from Ebay. It has a plastic protective body instead of foam and it will not fly. When I lift off, it immediately flips upside down. I have tried trimming it and have had no luck. I also have a Syma X-11 and I don't have any problems with it. Is there a way to calibrate the 816A? or should I just toss it in the trash?
Ive been wanting a quad for months. I've also been watching your channel for months as well. I finally purchased the UDIRC816A after watching this video. You made a good point that if some one has never flown a quadcopter before this would be a great starter one. Got it off ebay for 25 bucks. Picked up a couple 350 mah batteries as well. I want to practice before I dive in and get a la trax alias. 🙂
i have this one, it flies well, but ive been having alot of problems with it.ive had to solder the battery connector wires 3 times, tape the smaller canopy, replace props 3 times, get a new battery (i got a 500mah instead of a 250mah), and one of the bars that hold a prop came loose. and when i take off, it seems to tilt either back and left, or vise-versa.
It is so cool a flew it in wind a it work good=)
Wow Ryan, you crash slot less often these days as opposed to back around this time lol. Keep up the good work though Buddy!
Sold out, I guess these are a fan favorite!
hello my friend so i have the udi rc u818a quadcopter and i just bricked my transmitter and need to get a new one do you know what other transmitter would work with this one something a little better but under 100 dollors thanks for all the videos they're great 🙂
Hi there Ryan, 1 quick question. I have something similar – a Skytech M62. my props and motors look like this ones. Bought it new, worked out fine for about several days, say 10-15 charges(2batteries). But now, 1 motor does not have any accelaration to it. I mean, When I go Forward-Right, it simply starts, but the motor supposed to work, it just goes constant, even if I turn up more throttle. The other 3 motors do accelerate as I push or pull the levers. Now it does not even go up. So the question is : the problem might be the motor already died or weak batteries? Thanks for your time 🙂
i got 1 just like that and i wish to change the blade thats broken but its hard when pulling it out and afraid of broken it, plz help
On the transmitter I have you could take off the sticker on the back lite display it has 2 buttons one for recording and 1 for pictures, its kinda cool
Hi Flyin' Ryan! I've watched numerous vids that you posted for these quadcopters, but I still can't make up my mind on which one to get. I am in the market for a beginner quadcopter that can also be flown outdoors. I am having a hard time deciding among the following: UDI U816A, JXD 388, Hubsan X4 H107L, and WL V212 (upgraded V949). Can you please advise which two would be the best for my needs? Thanks!
you have to be higher to do the flips 🙂
I have one of these quads, purchased it locally about 6 months ago. Unfortunately on mine one of the motors seems to stick a bit, I never could get it to hold a hover properly. I've long since put it away, but after watching this I might give it another try. Thanks for the review.
What is the voltage of your battery?
Do you think it can lift 20g? Thx
I've just brought this quad copter and it's stuck doing flips any help?
I have a quad recommendation for you. If you liked the Udi U816A, then you should definitely try the Udi U818A. It is bigger and more suitable for outdoor flight, but has a similar design, having a plastic protector instead of foam. It flies great, and uses the same great controller as the U816A! Problem is, it shares the same flip problem as the U816A, but not as bad. Also, as an added bonus, it comes with a video camera that takes relatively good video! You can get one for about $70. I have a video of some flight footage on my channel if you want to see.
After a day of misery with a U830A, I swapped it (at HobbyPeople) for the U816A. They use the same battery, so my spare works. The U816A I got (1.5 yrs after this review) has the "good" controller shown here — uses 4 AA batteries. The stickers are included, but the guard canopy is now thin plastic rather than foam — probably a gram or two lighter but just as rugged. I opted for LiquidPaper on the front edges over the stickers. And it comes with a circular disc canopy to cover the top but leave the props exposed, for outdoor flight or higher-performance/endurance flight. With the U830A I was consumed with throttle adjustments to keep it between the floor and ceiling, but I was comfortable with the U816A immediately. It still doesn't "hover" (where you can set the radio down and watch), but it requires a fraction of the effort to maintain reasonable control of altitude. Pitch and roll are better too. I was immediately comfortable sliding this quad out from under furniture with full pitch and some throttle. All in all, I felt the flight characteristics of this quad were predictable and easily adapted to where the U830A is a squirrel jacked up on crack-laced espresso, with latency thrown in to add to the irritation. This is definitely a good trainer, where the U830A is more of a dissuader!
problem when flip happen to my syma x4 too.. seems to be it dont have enough power to catch up..
I think I'm becoming a pincher myself. I hate thumbpad things.
i think the alien dome pops off the foam body and you can reverse it
Hey, im the 100th likeI should get a prize 😉
