Is it for YOU? | DJI FPV Drone EXPLAINED
Now i did do a full review on it. So if you haven’t checked that out, пожалуйста, сделайте, but since that launch, it has come to my attention that this drone is probably one of the most highly misunderstood drone products to a good amount of people out there. И так, if you fall into that category, my goal with this video today is to explain to you what this dji fpv drone is and isn’t, но, что еще более важно, who it’s for with the hopes that, by the end of the video you can make a decision for Yourself, whether or not this drone is for you – hopefully i can get this done in less than 10 минут, so let’s jump straight into it. When it comes to drones, i like to put things into two different categories. One is the fpv drone, which is the world that i come from and with fpv drones, it’s very much all about the art of flying itself. You treat this drone like you, would an aircraft and you control it with multi rotor, like physics and because fpv drones were meant to be flown. They were built with specific design goals that benefit flying then, on the opposite side of that spectrum are camera drones and, as the name would imply it it’s all about being a camera. You don’t control it like you, would a real aircraft. На самом деле, if anything, it’s a lot like controlling a camera that’s on a tripod and a couple of dollies moving in three dimensional space and because it’s meant to be a camera in the sky, first it’s built with specific goals in mind that benefit a camera operator.
Теперь, look i get it. Sometimes marketing will have you believing things that you probably shouldn’t, but make no mistake about it. This dgi, fpv drone is very much on the camera drone side of that spectrum. Think of it as like, a mavic that happens to have an fpv mode where all of the controls change, and now you can fight in full manual as if it were in rate mode. Теперь, if you don’t know what i’m talking about, maybe you’re a beginner or you’re new to drones in general, all you got to know here is that camera drones are arguably very easy and intuitive to fly. I feel like anybody, for the most part can just pick one up and start flying it within the first couple of minutes. Fpv drones, С другой стороны, are way harder, just way way way way harder. I think that a lot of the criticism towards this drone is coming from people who are looking at it from the lens of an fpv mini quad or an fpv drone and it’s. Simply not that i mean to me that’s a lot like taking a formula one car entering it into the world rally championship and then complaining that the suspension broke after the first jump. Хорошо, i think i might have to come up with another example. Here i don’t know how many of you all are into cars. Единой системы обмена сообщениями. Oh okay, i got let’s, say you’re, a mountain biker and you want to capture some cool pov footage and you go out and you get a dslr strap that on your head and then you complain about how big and bulky it is, how the batteries are expensive And that it didn’t survive one crash, i mean it’s kind of like hello that’s.
What a gopro is for it’s all about the right tool for the right job right: Хорошо! So now that i’ve explained what this drone is and isn’t let’s dive deeper about who this is for and let’s see, if you can make a decision about whether or not this is for you so the way i’m going to go about. This is break it down and say, like the yes category. This is for you, then we’re going to move into all of the type of person that it won’t be for and then we’ll finish it off with all of like the maybes right, the little exceptions. So if you are a beginner and your goal is to get mavic style content with the option to have fpv style, looking content, this is probably for you. If you are a beginner and your goal is to learn how to fly fpv but plan to stay well within the cinematic style of fpv flying, then this is an option for you. Your other option is, you can go down the diy route, learn how to put a system together, spend some time in a simulator and then go through the learning curve of building your own drone to save a couple of 100 баксы. But the amount of time that you save by going with this system versus the amount of money that you save by going down the diy route, is only something that you can decide. В основном, it’s what’s your time worth kind of question.
Now what you need to understand here is that, if your intentions for flying ever shifts into the sport slash performance realm of flying i’m, talking about like freestyle, bashing racing and acrobatics, then this will be a cost prohibitive option. The reason being is because this system is not meant to be crashed and therefore repairs and spare parts will be much more expensive and harder to get than its diy counterparts. You basically have to send it into dji to have it repaired for the parts that you can’t do a self repair on, whether you are a beginner or an advanced type of person. If you intend to fly in any kind of way where crashing is inherent. This is not for you and, если вы, Не уверен, if you fall into this category, all you got to do is just ask yourself how many spare props do you go through when you go out on a day of flying? If the answer to that is more than one, you probably don’t want to buy this drone for that, if you’re a beginner and your goal is to fully immerse yourself into this fpv hobby not only pushing your piloting skills, but also learning how to build and repair Your own drones, then this is not the drone for you, Вы, better off just jumping straight into the diy route and doing your homework, because it will save you a lot more money in the long run. Not only that but you’ll be able to build your drone for the exact type of flying and performance that you want, and that is the type of control that you simply can’t get out of this dji fpv drone.
Because again, this dji drone is very much for capturing that cinematic style fpv footage if you’ve got fpv experience, maybe you’re an advanced responsible pilot. Something to keep in mind here is that this drone, just like any other dji drone, has gps geo, fencing and safe fly zone limitations. This might not be for you. Maybe you’ve got experience with fpv already or maybe you’re trying to use this in a more professional setting. Let’S say you’ve got some client work. I know personally, i would never use my freestyle drone rigs and bring that on set onto a paid gig and so maybe you’re looking for something a little bit more dedicated. I think this system works really well for that. На самом деле, if your current workflow is to use a gopro and then stabilize it with real steady go afterwards, this is a much more streamlined version, because you don’t have to do that. Real steady post process work because that whole rock steady stabilization is baked right into that sd card that’s, getting recorded onto the drone, basically pull that card and it’s ready to be handed off to your client. Теперь, speaking of that, whether or not you use this for a client is going to depend entirely on whether or not your client will accept this camera. If they’re picky about their cameras, then i don’t know. I know personally my clients that i’ve worked with in the past. The only dji camera that they would accept would be the x7 that normally comes on the inspires, and so whether or not this is going to work out for you is going to depend entirely on whether or not your client will be happy with this camera.
Let’S say you do have fpv experience and you’ve built a couple of your own jones already and you’re just over building, and you just want something that just works right out of the box has really great gps features because let’s face it. Dji’S gps features are pretty much second to none at this point and you want to do maybe some like long range flying or maybe you just want to do more relaxed, cruising style stuff. You know take the edge off at the end of the day, then this is worth taking a look at if and only if, you’re willing to accept having to use only their batteries. Now their batteries are arguably more expensive than their diy counterparts and you’re also going to be stuck using their radio. Теперь, if you’re doing some long range stuff, you probably want to be on crossfire. This system has a claim to transmission distance of 10 Километров, something that i have not tested yet so, if it can, if it can actually do 10 Километров, this is probably a good option to think about it’s an all in one system, and it just works right Out of the box, the one thing that you also got to keep in mind is that it does have a claimed flight time of 20 минут. Однако, in my experience i found that it’s closer to 20 minutes only if you’re flying in more of that mavic style normal mode, the entire time, the second you go into any of those other modes that flight time goes down.
The last thing i want to say is that if you are a beginner and you’re planning to buy this drone, please do not just flip this thing into manual and expect to have a good day. I can guarantee you that you will wreck it faster than it took you to click that buy button, spend that time put it into that virtual simulator and fly until you get it right and when you get it right, keep flying until you can’t get it wrong, Because all it takes is one crash and uh well it’ll, be an expensive uh lesson to learn. Well that’s going to wrap up this video.
