At times the dji unit was going out of stock and it basically was then listed as end of life. Agora, shortly after this happened, dji released a statement that, due to component shortages, they were having trouble producing and they were going to have a replacement, ear unit released by a third party manufacturer. Now this obviously set off all the rumors and people thought it was going to be a v2 ear unit. Contudo, if you read the dji wording, it is very simply a replacement ear unit. Agora, in this statement they said it was going to happen around mid april and that came and went without any news. Contudo, today we do have some news, because cadets have shared an image or a rendering of a new ear unit that they are going to be shipping. Agora, just to show you this on the screen, it is going to be called the codex ear unit, hd low latency micro version. Agora, if we look at this a little bit closer, it really is identical to the original dji unit from a module point of view and then a new camera from cadex. Now this is not, as far as i understand things, a vision to a unit. It is simply a direct replacement if we go to cadax’s facebook, page they’ve simply put a little post up, saying: cadets fpv ear unit coming soon, and they did that four hours ago. So this is the news we’ve been waiting for on it now, just to be clear.
As i’ve already mentioned, hum, we are not expecting to see a vision to a unit. My understanding of this whole situation is, it is simply a replacement for the dji one it’s. Very likely the base module is still manufactured by dji and they’ve partnered up to supply the camera. It is believed that the camera was part of the problem with supplying the components, because we are in a global silicon shortage and basically, everything is being affected and the chances are. This was what affected dji. Now today, there are no specs for this new e unit. From codex we have no other details other than them. Showing this. My belief and my understanding is: it is a direct replacement for the dji one. There will be no benefits to having this over the current one and it certainly isn’t a v2 that is dual band to work with the v2 goggles and it isn’t really going to bring any benefits over the existing one. Agora, Obviamente, that is the information i’ve been provided, but that isn’t necessarily 100 corrigir, and if that does change, i will let you guys know as well but that’s the information that i’ve been given so far. Now that is really it. There is no other details on than that. We have no pricing, we have no main overall specs, but don’t expect anything special here. It really is just a drop in replacement from codex as soon as it actually becomes available.
I will let you guys know, and i will put a link to it in the description of the video as well, so for all of those who have been waiting for news, basically that’s it, it is unknown if there’s going to be any more from anyone else. Is anyone else going to produce a new unit? My my belief is, it probably will only end up being cadets for now um. Maybe we might see some others in the future. I do think personally we’re going to see dji step away from standalone fpv somewhat. Their resources are going to be put into this now and i think you’re going to see very limited future development on the standalone. As i as i see it, moving forward – and i think this is how dji have done things in the past and whilst i’m not saying they’re abandoning it, i certainly don’t think you’re going to see anything new. The development has had in the past and really the development’s going to be on this moving forward, but we’re going to have to see as with always with dji. No one really knows what their plans are, they can pivot instantly and they can change their plans overnight. But my feeling is: this system is sort of no longer priority now that they have this in place anyway, that’s it for this one. It was just a quick update um when there’s more news.
