Welcome back to the channel today is a new review, but don’t forget to comment on this video because you might win an ishii novice 4. i’m, giving it away this month coming up in july i’m, going to announce the winner right here on the channel. All you have to do is leave a comment. Let me know where you’re from and maybe what you fly and you’ll get entered to win the novice, for it is sitting right over here in this box right here and ready to go for you guys so um everything’s in the box with goggles transmitter and all That good stuff and today is no exception. It’S another four inch category style quad up for review, and this one has a lot to it. It has duality. I call it duality because well, you can fly around 30 minutes flight time with the 4sp 3500 milliamp from zod. I have one right here. This is the battery you want to get for these four inch type quads with a little xt30 converter to xt60. You can be up and flying for 30 minutes if you want to cruise with a tbs crossfire nano on here. So this one is the analog version. This one comes in at around right around 215. I was getting around to eight to nine minute flight time. On a 4s 650 lipo also – and it has a great tune on here – so i feel like this one’s kind of a sleeper it’s, the predator 178 um four inch props.
It has removable arms on here, replaceable arms. It has a beeper on the back gps and it has an actually really nice fox air camera on here. So let’s go outside right now and let’s fly this little four inch that you can get up to 30 minutes on has gps and it’s 222 grams. So a lot of options with this one for around the 200 price point and it’s, not a dji quad this time, so let’s go ahead and do some flying we’ll come back in on the bench. We’Ll talk about this predator, a little more close up on the bench. We’Ll give you a full review here. We go all right, guys, let’s go ahead and do the fpv flight test. Now you want to let this quad sit there for around a minute or two before you take off. You should see some numbers start to change for the home point, and you should see the home arrow pop up inside betaflight. You can change some of those gps settings, but generally, if you leave them alone, they’re fairly set up really what you have to do is set up your switches. There was already a switch set to. I believe it was aux 4 for the gps return home. So this quad will return to home a few different ways. It will return to home on low battery voltage. You can set that up in beta flight or it will return to home on a switch so or if you lose signal.
So three different types of return to home on this particular quad. But look at that. I was up to 12 satellites now. It does show me my distance from the home point right there and i’m on a lipo right now and i just decided to go for a power loop. This is a 4s 650 we’re flying today and i honestly i feel like these four inch quads. If they have a nice tune on them, it seems like they just freestyle really well be because of the power to weight ratio. It’S just kind of a nice addition to have gps on any type of fpv related type of quad. So i think that’s kind of just a bonus in a way because you, you have a lot of possibility with this quad. You can freestyle it and you can send it out long range and – and i say long range with this squad because you can’t get 30 minutes on this quad, so um four inch quads will go way out there. On that 401 sp 3500 battery i’ll put a link down below for that one that’s, my favorite that’s the zod battery. If you pair it up with an xd30 to xd 60 connector, you will have no problems and just make sure you grab a charger that will do a lie on some of the chargers out there. Actually don’t do lie on so um. The characteristic of this quad again, though, it feels like a nice freestyle tune on here, it’s very smooth.
I don’t see it hardly any vibes. I mean 90 no vibes in this tune, so i would say it this. This tune feels as good as something like the gap rc baby croc, and that was one of my favorites. The four inch baby croc two thumbs up on that quad. If you want to spend a little more money grab one of those um, but this one i feel like was kind of a sleeper uh for 215 dollars. It has some nice gear on here and these rcm power motors i’ve flown them on even like five inch. Quads before they’ve been around for some time and i’ve never had a set fail me yet so right here it looked like the video is getting a little bit dark and i have a feeling that had something to do with the heat. Today the heat was like: it was around 110 when i was flying today, so um crazy, hot for 5.8 video. So if you notice that your video camera starts to black out on you or your osd will start to get fuzzy and flicker, that means you’re about to lose your btx, so be very careful there uh flying in these summer months, it’s gon na i mean i Don’T know if global warming uh is affecting this or not, but if it’s, if it’s a if it’s a real thing it’s, it sure is hot this summer, so um watch out for your vtx don’t.
Let it sit on the ground too long, but the problem with this quad is you have to let it sit for about 30 seconds to uh to a minute to to really get a full lock and you can set that up in beta flight. It doesn’t come set up to arm without loading the home point, so that’s kind of a safeguard for you new guys, um. If you want to turn on arm without setting the home point, you can do that and once you see satellites and your home arrow pop up generally, you have locked a home point and these quads lock a home point way quicker than the dji quads. I feel like the dji quads originally took around a minute and a half but they’ve gotten faster over the years and again i feel like i have nice control, just quite i can get in there. I feel like i can fly pretty fast, even with the tilt. That’S on here, it’s a minimal amount of tilt around let’s, say maximum, like 20 degrees you’re not going to fly 35 degrees with this quad, unless you figure out a way to maybe raise that top plate. Just a little bit. You could put some extra standoffs on there. The bolts are long enough um, if you just maybe you could just even put like a little tiny little plastic m2 nut in between the frame and raise it up just a tiny bit. That would just give you enough tilt there with that camera.
But again, like this one surprised me i mean it did it surprised me. I was not expecting to have fun with this quad and it was like so hot today when i was going out to fly i’m like i’m, not even sure how long i can stand this, but this battery look at this i’ve already been flying for five minutes. Since i armed Music and i’m at 15 volt, so you know i’m standing out in 110 degrees and i’m thinking, like wow i’m, ready to get back in the van, but i still have plenty of battery left. So i absolutely i think i can get 10 minutes out of this battery and i kind of mixed up this flight for you guys a little bit like i tried to just go out there and send it a little bit not too far, because i didn’t want To brown out or have a problem with the analog vtx in this heat, but there i’m going for another power. Loop came in just a little bit late right. There um. I thought i was all the way back around. I saw the sun coming around. I should have just went a little further, but let’s go for another one right now there we go big big power. It feels like there’s plenty of power to weight ratio. With these motors, like, i feel good about these motors and they’re, just a little bit of stall, inverted stall, a little bit of a corkscrew toward the ground and back over nice.
But i love the camera. I mean i fox here and run cam as far as analog cameras, they’re rolling the pool still they’re they’re, the ones to get and it’s nice that it’s included on the spine and fly. I haven’t seen a lot of fox here: cameras lately, so it’s kind of nice and up high. I try to test quads up high for you guys so that this is really where you see the jello. Look at this there’s, a tiny bit of vibration there, but uh still. This is analog video. So if you you put a little insta 360 go on top or you do a dk’s gopro or even you want to carry a full size gopro in this quad. You can do that. This is a 4s quad, primarily if you’re a beginner start it on 3s and then do 4s later. You can do a 3s like 650 milliamp or an 850 milliamp and that’ll. Give you a nice flight time, but it won’t be quite as punchy, for you be a big difference when you move 3 to 4s, but i love the speed of this quad and, most importantly, this thing was reliable. I flown this another time before uh the heat and i was able to get close to 30 minutes on the 4sp battery. So the lion pack here that’s going to be your long range pack that’s going to get you around 30 minutes with this quad. So i think, freestyle and long range for these four inch categories quads.
I just love these love. These. You could also try some of those folding props i’ll try to find some links to put down below for those. Those are also pretty smooth, but i feel like the props it came with, are quite smooth, i believe they’re believe they’re. Gem fans i’m just going to double check. 30. No, these are oh, i can’t see 40 40. 24 props. I believe here those are gem fans, so i’m super stoked. With this one guys uh predator, i had to even like use a google translator to find out what the name was so i’m pretty happy with this one. So let’s go back to the studio and let’s put it on the bench. Let’S talk about a little closer up. All right guys welcome back to the flight test. What do you think about that flight? That was pretty fun, you know. Sometimes i get a quad that i’m, not totally sure about what company is it? Is it eachine? Is it not eachine? Is it some other kind of parts that are thrown together, um yeah? So this one kind of surprised me because when i first bought it out of the box, it was just a cardboard box just like this, and it has chinese on it. And thankfully diego showed me how to use the google translate and i was able to see what this was all this information here, what it was and i’ll put it up on the screen for you, because you can see that it is called the predator and it Says it weighs 127 grams without the battery or an action camera on here you could put the insta360 go 2 up top, which would be a really good choice or you could put a dk’s gopro and i believe this one will even carry a full size.
Gopro. The strap that came along with it as well, it is long enough to accommodate either the smaller 650 size battery, which i was getting i mean, i think i could push 10 minutes out of this battery. If you were to use an 850, you could probably push 12 to 13 minutes. They they say 15, but i’m i’m – not totally sure about that. But i am happy that upon takeoff after loading up the gps home point because you do have gps back here, i was able to fly straight up and feel the tune right away that it felt really smooth. So the flight controller on here is really really nicely tuned. It feels like a factory tune versus something they just slap together and put out there for you guys, so you can get a few different types of batteries on here as well. If you want to do lipo, you can get a lipo and start with a 654s. You can also fly 3s. If you’re a brand new beginner. You can also get into flying lion packs and what you want to do there for filing a lion pack. You don’t have to really set it up any differently than you typically would for a lipo. The only difference is that the minimum cell voltage on this you want to set to around 3.8, and for these guys, the minimum cell voltage. You can turn it down to about 2.8, which is pretty cool so um.
Typically, i go easy on my lipos, but today i was able to just kind of even at the very end of the battery i’m, still getting like a nice power loop with this quad. So um did a couple power loops with it came up short on one, but overall it functioned really really well and it was 110 degrees. Today, when i was flying this so yeah, i mean i typically don’t fly when it’s over 100 degrees, and you know it does affect the flight performance a little bit when it’s that hot, but it stayed in the air. Mostly. What i was worried about was running the vtx on there, so you know i have 5.8 on here and i believe it does crank up to 500 milliwatt on this quad but uh. I had no problems with that. Btx and the camera looks really really nice. I wasn’t able to get a ton of tilt out of this camera because it’s a little bit tall for the way they have this frame, and you can see in there there’s about the maximum till it’s, probably about 15 to 20 degrees tilt. They do have tpu stuff all the way around, which i think is nice. The immortal t holder is up front here. You could also take that off because it’s just on these two front posts, you could take it off and put it somewhere else. You might be able to to stick it in the back, but it looks like it’s pretty well tpu’ed up in the very back here, so i believe it is a bn220 gps.
On the back i was getting around 12 satellites. We also have leds on the bottom and a built in buzzer, so this is a full size, buzzer also, which is nice, so it’s, nice and loud tpu, bumpers on the very bottom as well, and they did tape down the wires going to the motors, which i Thought was kind of nice. We have four inch props right here, and these are the smux motors they’re 1404 series and they’re 2750 kv. So these guys are every bit as efficient as the gap rc motors um. These are the rcn power motors and i’ve flown these. Before they also have kind of nice anodized aluminum top bell here on top of this motor, the stators inside look really really nice. It feels notchy as well. So i think these motors, like i think, they’re, pretty pretty powerful. I didn’t feel like this. Quad was over tuned as well, so guys like if you’re flying it and you’re brand new, when you do a flip or roll you’re not going to over rotate it’s, not super super fast on the flip and roll rates so for intermediate to beginner guys that tune Is really really good on here, so i i think i feel like this. One surprised me because i’ve been i’ve been reviewing so many dji quads lately that i thought well here comes another analog one yeah. You know i’m, not super excited about analog, but i have tbs on here.
I have gps and i have a good vtx back there, so i felt like this one did really well and for the price it’s much cheaper than a lot of the dji ones out. There so the only thing i think i get super critical about on this one is maybe i’d like to see that this was a little taller. This is the alien fpv antenna back here for 5a, and it also bends really nicely so it’s going to be super. Super durable, i don’t think you guys are going to break this i’ve, never quite seen one this bendy, but it bends right back and you have a few different battery strap options. Here too, you can put two straps here. If you want to put a much larger battery, you could do that still have room for your action camera up front so that top plate is nice it’s about eight bolts to release that top plate from the standoff. So my tbs nano is right here right above the flight controller and that camera, by the way why it looks so good. It is 1200 tvo, so really really nice, so lipo again you’re going to get around somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 minutes with a 650. If you’re just cruising in around i’d, say 13 to 14 minutes with an 850, maybe even maybe their 15 minute, like they say advertised flight time, but i don’t know you guys. Let me know down in the comments below and again if you want to set up for a lion pack plug in your lion, pack run it down to about 2.
8 and then make sure you’re close to the home point when you’re at that battery level set your Your lowest to 2.8 for your warning voltage inside betaflight and also um when you start when the first warning you want to be 2.8 or maybe set that to 3 and then set the bottom warning rate to about 2.8, and that should be cool but another quad. That is cheaper than some of the other ones out there like the gap, rc baby croc and this one’s gon na be cheaper than the diatone and some of the others out there, like the novice four, you still can’t get that outside the ready to fly kit. So um this one is every bit as good as the novice four and it’s it’s really relatively unknown. As far as, like all the reviews go on this one out there, this one’s kind of a sleeper so check it out down the link below guys and don’t. Forget to make your comments as well to get entered into when that knob is for so more another four inch on the channel so much fun. You guys and uh it’s a little bit hot this week, but i’m gon na keep flying for you guys and i’m gon na keep making the reviews. Because i’m, back from my awesome vacation and uh yeah, i visited some family in north carolina and uh spent some time on the beach and now i’m back. So please do subscribe on the channel guys and stay cool out there and hope you’re joining your summer.
