I'Ve spent a lot of time over the last couple of weeks, testing a wide variety of chargers and i've picked. What i think are the best to safely and quickly charge your gear, and i know that sounds like a really simple thing. You typically plug the charger in the wall. You connect it up to a battery. You cross your fingers and hope that you end up with a fully charged battery that hasn't been damaged, but the truth is there's a lot of magic going on during that charging cycle, because the mavic air 2 uses lithium polymer cells and lithium polymer is a bit Of a kind of a magical and very, very sensitive chemistry that has to be charged in the right way and the charger has to take responsibility, especially if it's charged on multiple cells to look at the cell and do a digital handshake with it. To understand. Exactly what its charge state is, what its temperature is and adjust the charging current a few other parameters to charge that battery as quickly and safely as possible, that's hard enough with one battery, but if you've got multiple batteries charging at the same time, the charger now Has to play four different games of chess at the same time, so it's got to be a bit of a grand master to make those adjustments individually for all the devices connected up to it. So all these chargers that i'm going to talk about today can typically do multiple batteries.

W tym samym czasie, and in some cases, multiple devices and they're smart enough to look at each of those devices individually and make the adjustments necessary to charge them safely. And i keep stressing that word safely, because the batteries are hands down. The most expensive accessory you're gon na buy for your quad and you'll find that if you just started flying, if you got one battery with it, you're gon na immediately buy a second battery. If you've got two batteries, you'll probably buy a third and a fourth, because the whole point of buying the quad is to keep it up in the air as long as possible and enjoy the day so you're going to need extra cells. You definitely want to take care of these with your charging cycles, so you get the longest life possible out of those batteries now there's a couple of different places that you're going to want to charge yourselves and i'll talk about all three of those you'll charge them At home, you'll charge them on the road, maybe it's in your car, and maybe you'll even charge them out in the field and i've got solutions here. That'Ll cover all three of those and i'll go through them individually. The one thing i want to stress and we're in the middle of summer right now so it's really important to hear thisis that lipo technology does not like to be charged warm, especially warm or hot.

Więc, if you're out in the field and it's a really hot day, the last thing you want to do is leave your batteries on a charger in the car, because even though they may charge you're killing your batteries. So if it's hot just be really aware of the fact that you shouldn't charge these in really really hot environments other than that you'll be in pretty good shape, W porządku, so let me go through the different chargers. I'Ve got. I like multi chargers. Teraz, if you bought the original mavic air package, you got the charger with it. This was the charger that came with the standard package. Basically you plug it into the wall. This end has a custom connector on it. You hook it up to the battery and you can charge a single battery at a time and the charger smart enough to know how it can make the adjustments needed to charge that battery. They also included a usb a connection on the side of the charger. You can use a cable that came with the drone to charge the controller at the same time. To jest 2 amp connection, now that's important to remember because i'm going to talk about higher currents over here 2 amps is good. It'Ll charge the charger over a period of time, pretty much the same time. It'S going to charge about a 2 3 depleted battery you'll get both of them charged fully. Problem polega na tym, że, you can only charge one cell at a time.

So if you're going to fly tomorrow morning and it's late at night, you're going to charge one cell, you got to keep track of it when it's full. You got to move it to the next i'll move it to the next cell. So if you want it, you could have bought the fly more package. Maybe you did and it came with this charging hub, which is a really nice addition and the charging hub takes this single charger plugs in here, and you can plug three batteries into this and it won't charge them in parallel, it'll charge them sequentially, so it'll charge, Whichever battery needs the least amount of charge first, when that's fully charged it shuts off and moves on to the next battery moves on to the next battery. So this is a really good solution to sort of walk through the batteries over time, where you're, not back. In the office checking to see if they're charged and moving the cables around, it works pretty well, so you basically connect up the charger here, plug it into the wall and you can charge up the three batteries. My problem with that is often i'm trying to get out in the field a lot quicker than i want to have batteries walk through on the charging station, so i was looking for a multi charger that would simultaneously charge three or four batteries. W tym samym czasie, even if they were different charge, levels and again that's where the intelligence of the charger comes in so the first charger i'm going to show, you is a multi charger for the home.

Now it's, not much bigger than the original charge right. Three times the size, but it charges four batteries. W tym samym czasie, it's made out of plastic high impact. Abs, plastic it's got venting in the bottom. You basically plug it into the wall over here, and on this end, you have four connections that you can use to charge four batteries. W tym samym czasie, a couple of cool things about this charger, the first one is all these connections disconnect. So if you're only charging two batteries that's what it looks like when you buy your third battery plug it in you can charge your third battery. lubię to, because some of the other multi chargers we used to carry in the past had these things permanently connected to it, and it's kind of i don't know unwieldy to have all those cables dangling around if you're only charging two batteries. So i like that you can disconnect it so, in addition to the four batteries that it can charge, it also has two usb a connections on it. Just like that charger that came from dji, the difference is these are three amp charging ports, which means it's going to fire more electrons at whatever you're, connecting up to those two usb a ports, and those can be used to charge your controller, your phone, your tablet, Your mobile camera, whatever you want to charge anything standard, usb, can connect to that. So if you've got this charger and the original cable for the controller, you can charge four batteries at the same time, connect up the cable and charge the controller and your phone at the same time.

So let me show you how this works. I'Ll get some of this stuff out of the way, so i've got the cable plugged in here and i'll plug in the charger again it's one connection to the wall and i've got four ports off the end of it. Teraz, when i first power this up, it goes through a power on self test, once it's gone through the self test and make sure everything's working inside the charger correctly. All these come on green, which means there's, no load or you've got a charged battery on it. I'M, only going to charge two batteries so i'll disconnect two of these just to make this simpler and all you'll do. O, i didn't point this out on this end. It'S got a dust cover on it too, so you can actually cover these up when you're, not using them. It keeps dust and debris out of there. So i really like that. They think through all these little little things that uh keep it safer all right. So basically it's a keyed port on the end, i'll plug that in and the minute i plug that in that battery starts charging and you'll notice, the port that that's connected to turn red. What that means when you're looking at this is that, if there were three batteries connected here, they're all fully charged this one's in the middle of charging. Teraz, if i connect another one up, this one's a little depleted as well, let me connect this guy up.

You'Ll see that the second battery starts charging flip these guys over and you'll notice that the second red led came on. So you can see that they're blinking they're, going through the charging cycle and what's happening. Is the charger actually assessed the value of both of those batteries as far as charge goes and it made the adjustments needed to charge them safely, and i can guarantee it's, fine or different amount of current at both of these batteries, depending on their particular needs? At that moment, so that's a really nice way to go now. Oprócz tego, że, you can use any standard cable that you have the cable that came with the drone connect it up to one of these usb ports on the side, plug it into your controller and boom. Your controller starts charging and you've still got one more port available that you can use to charge your phone or your tablet. So it's really like the perfect six in one solution to charge up the four batteries simultaneously and two other portable devices works really well. When you're at home now, if you have an ac outlet in your car, you can take this with you and charge this stuff on the road as well. It'S got voltage regulation built into it now. Most homes have really solid power. They'Ve got 120 woltów przy 60. Hertz you're not going to have an issue, but if you've got kind of flaky power or if you're in a car and you're using an inverter, this guy will correct for a lot of those issues with that voltage fluctuating because the voltage inverter inside their controller.

I should say the voltage regulator inside there handles that, and it can safely charge these batteries so that's how you would charge it at home now, if you're on the road uh, you may want to charge it in your car a lot of times you're out between Locations and you want to charge your batteries when you're driving from one location to the next location, we've got a charger here, it's a car charger that has two ports on it. So it can charge two batteries simultaneously and a single usb connection on the end here, which is the 3m connection again more current can charge whatever you're connecting to it a little bit faster, even though it's charging it safely and you're wondering well gee. How can i show you how this works? Dobrze, i have a portable power station here from our good friends over at jackery. This is the explorer 500 i'm going to be reviewing this next week, and this is basically a gigantic battery bank that has ac connections on the front, a bunch of usb connections on the front and a port here for the accessory like in your car. So let me plug this guy in again it's going to go through a power and self test, and when it's done with the power on self test, you're going to see the oops, i got to turn it on. I guess it's important to have it on when it's done with the power on self test.

The green led comes on now, the minute i connect it up and by the way, these have the same dust caps on them. When i connect it up to the battery. As soon as i do, you'll see that it starts blinking when that starts blinking, it turns red, which means the battery is being charged it's, not fully charged at this point, there's the second battery and just a second it'll start blinking. There you go so both batteries are being charged right now through that one charger, in addition to which i've got this spare usb connection on the side. So if i can find that cable, i had a second ago i'll plug that in and i can charge my controller at the same time, so i can actually charge two batteries and the controller between locations. Now i spend a lot of time when i'm flying on a saturday or sunday or during the week between locations, so i'll fly at one location. Maybe i'll drive an hour an hour and a half to the second location. I basically plug this into my car. I put two batteries on the seat: i've got the air conditioning on because i can't charge them hot, but i'll charge my two batteries in my controller and by the time i get to that second location, i may have a fully charged battery or two of them. Tak właściwie, aby ponownie polecieć, so it gives me the ability to kind of keep the quad up in the air through the whole day by using a charging solution like this.

The only downside to this guy is that this is capable of fast charging. You can't fast charge through this port. The port is a three amp port but it's a solid 5 v 3 amp port. To do quick charging you've got to have like a qc, 2.0 lub 3.0 or a pd capable port, but it does a really good job of charging this quickly. But if you want to charge this even faster or if you've got a cell phone that uses quick charging, whether it's an apple or an android product, you need something that does qc charging we've got that. So if you just want to charge portable devices, we came out with this drone valley car charger a little while ago, it's a pretty cool little device. We'Re pretty proud of this, but it's got two ports on the end, a usba and a usbc that are both quick charge compatible. So the large usb a connection is a quick charge. QC 3.0 and the smaller usbc is set up for pd, which is what they use for apple. So if you plug this in you'll notice, the led comes on in the back. I don't know if you can see that but that's kind of a cool feature and you could plug in the usba to the usba port and once you do that, you can actually charge your controller fast charger controller. Więc, if you're in a real hurry to get this thing charged when you're out in the field in between locations, you can use this one to quick charge.

It maybe you've got a couple of accessory outlets in your car. You plug this in one you plug the other into another outlet and you can charge your batteries and everything quickly so that's available as well. So those are the two portable charging options when you're driving between locations, if you've got an accessory outlet like that, you may still want to charge them when you're in the field. So maybe you're away from your car you're away from your home you're out in a beautiful field, miles away from anything and you're thinking. Man i'd love to charge my gear now. Obecnie, i don't have a solution for charging your batteries in the field. If you have a power station like this and you're, dragging that along with you, you can certainly use the car charger or the home charger with this to charge your batteries, but right now having a portable charger for your batteries, isn't something i've come across we're testing, A few things i'll be doing some reviews and some options in that space, but we're, probably a couple of weeks away from that, but in the meantime you can use something like a battery bank. Now this is the drone valley battery bank. We put this together. I don't know: six months ago, i've talked about it in the channel before but it's a 10 000 milliampere hour battery bank it's got a really nice digital display in the front. That shows you how much power is left in the bank.

The cool thing is: it's got a qc 3.0 connection up top here. Usba and it's got a usbc which is a pd delivery, a quick charge port as well. Więc, if you're in the fieldand you have to charge your controller or you want to charge some of your portable devices, you plug this into the qc port, plug it into your controller, and you can actually charge this out in the field. And you can charge your phone out in the field if you're using that for the device to fly your drone. We built this to be incredibly thin and slides right into your pocket on the front, so you can actually charge your controller while you're flying and make sure that you get a little extension out of your flying day using this product, so that's a really good solution For the field now, the last thing i want to talk about are the cables because we've got the power source. We'Ve got the powered storage device. You'Ve got to connect those two together. Now i've shown you basically the usbc cable, which is a standard cable. The one i've got in front of me here is one we've designed we call it the evolve, cable and the reason it's kind of cool is it's usb a in this end and usb c in this end, which will charge this guy up in anything with the Usb c device, but you're thinking well rick, if i'm out in the field i'm using your power bank and i've got an apple product.

I can't use the usbc to plug it into my apple product, so what's the big deal. Dobrze, we call it a universal charging. Cable because it comes with two adapters and these adapters pop on the usbc and turn it into either an apple product or a micro usb product. So this is the micro usb connection you plug it in the end here. It turns that usb c into a micro, usb i've also got one for an apple. O, the girl is flying across the desk there's one for the apple plug that in you've got a lightning connection on it. So if you've got a device with you like an iphone or an ipad, you can plug it in here and boom. It starts charging so it's a pretty cool device to charge all of your products and again you can use any cable. You'Ve got it's a standard. Usba connection on all these devices, this is usbc, but if you need an extra cable or you want, one that's got universal adaptability. This is the one to go with. The last thing i want to talk about is our hydra, cable and man. Am i proud of this product, so we thought okay. To jest wielki. I can charge one device at a time here and quick charge it, but what if i want to sort of expand what i can do with these chargers, jak powiedzieć, na przykład, i've got this in my car and i'm charging two batteries with it, but i want To charge more than one device off this port here, so we came out with a hydra cable, which is a clever name for this.

Cable it's got a usb a on this end, which you can plug into the charger, and once you plug it into the charger. All three of these heads, the lightning, the micro usb and the usb c connectionare active and they're all able to charge things at the same time. So you could essentially plug that in plug it into your controller. Start charging your controller and use the apple connection on your iphone or your ipad and start charging that. So it gives you the ability to sort of expand the charging capabilities of that port to multiple devices at the same time, now again it's a three amp port. So it's going to supply a lot of current to the devices downfield, but it doesn't quick charge and unfortunately because it's a hydra cable. It can't negotiate for different devices. Styles of charging for quick charge, so it's going to charge it at a really high current. But if you're only charging one device you're getting three amps of current through the cable to charge that device, if you're charging two devices you're splitting it to an amp and a half each but that's, still a lot of current heading for these devices. So those are the two options: our universal charging cable and this brand new, hydra, cable and again these are products we put together because we fly like you guys fly and around the field. We'Re, always looking for cool ways to sort of make that flying experience.

A little bit better make it a little safer, a little bit more fun. So all these products i'm talking about today, i'm sure you can find them all over the internet. So you know go out there and search buy from who you think you want to buy from, but all of this stuff will be listed on our website, because once we find a product that we like and we fly with and can recommend other friends we'll put It up on the website because i feel like, if you're buying from somebody you trust like us, we'll be here.
