Also re the Spontaneous nature of the design, I could not agree more. Sometimes an awesome moment and great opportunity for an epic shot might only.be available for 10 -20 seconds or less! Good observation. Some photos on my website are a case study of the split second nature of some good photos. http://www.petersterlingfilms.com
Hi Rick, I just sold my Osmo 1 for A$90. Looking at this one to use on a S.Pacific WW2 cruise with my iPhone XR. I could not use the Osmo 1 with a gel cover on it…. can you use this one with a gel cover or would I need to remove it? Great video as usual mate!
I've not seen the video fully. Will see it soon. But can you make a video having osmo action with an action camera adapter on this gimbal? If it can handle it, i need to buy one. No one did it so far.
1) There appears to be no interchangeable battery, true? What is the battery life?
2) How much does the phone-to-handle cable interfere with stabilization /gimbal movement?
3) A prior issue was the conflict between newer iPhones built-in physical (not electronic) stabilization and gimbal stabilization, is that still an issue, or if not, how was that remedied? (This issue is what prompted me to keep an old iPhone 6 just so that I could use it with my Osmo Mobile 1.)
4) I note that there is the same up-and-down / Z axis bounce as with other gimbals and the Osmo Pocket.
5) Cost aside, what case is to be made for the Osmo Mobile 3 versus the Osmo Pocket? More specifically, if one already has an Osmo Pocket, is there any real reason to get one of these?
Very detailed explanation Ric! I actually went out to Best Buy today to check it out but it's not available in retail yet!! Can't wait to get my hands on this new Osmo Mobile 3!
Has DJI finally grasped Android users in this product ? as everyone is aware DJI seem to be a commercial offshoot of Apple's iPhones, which is a bummer when the app doesn't work 100% on real good android phones. I have the 2 with an iPhone, and a Moza for my android, the two are rarely interchangeable which is seriously sad. And yes, all the improvements from the 2 are just spectacular – another fine presentation too.
Great review Rick, I love the price point. Iv never really wanted a cellphone gimble, but I think I may get this to get some different footage into my videos other than drone footage.
Does this gimbal rotates 360 ? I mean Inception
Pretty sure that tri-pod was an extra $20 and also included a case and maybe something else, IIRC. It was $119 for the Osmo 3 and $129 for the extras.
Hi Ric
Is there a way to glue on a cold shoe somewhere on the gimbal so that I can mount a Rode Wireless Go Receiver there?
Thank you

Check this music video using augmented reality and entirely shot on iPhone XR using an AR app called SceneCam https://youtu.be/M034kY98iXk
Great overview.
