can I do a steady aerial videos ?
Hi John, my name is Joe, I just ordered this guy from GearBest, like yourself I have been flying drones for about a year and I too have a couple of toy grade drones. this would be my first Gps drone. Do you like it? and did you upgrade the firmware? Your review was very good.
Thank you, Sir!First of all…I like John Moore videos/reviews at all !!!Here we can see, is a great description about the rare FreeX 450 ! ( manufacturer is Art-Tech )I receive mine monday next week (without the stock gimbal) – lets see what comes there…i will tell it here. But it seems, this will be a good gps-quad for the price, isnt it?!
Cheers, and always happy flights !!!Frank
Using the Throttle in GPS Mode should not be an issue. There is no fault or error in the GPS Programming. Make sure you have a good GPS Lock before flying. Users should upgrade to the latest Firmware (ver 4.0) as well. All of the models sold in last 8-10 months have the latest Swiss Made GPS unit that is even more stable. We have test flown hundreds of these without issue, as we video each buyers test flight before shipping. The latest version ships with the High Capacity Fuselage that holds up to a 5400mAh Battery. FreeX FPV version is also available. IF you are a USA Buyer, we are the ONLY authorized Distributor and Service Center in the USA. Hi, enjoy your videos sir, have had my Free X now for about 7 months and got it through Parkrcmodels.com in MI. Love the quad and still learning things, and Max at Parkrc has always been a great help with any questions that I have had. Planning on adding FPV soon and will watch your video. Keep flying
Do you have to calibrate every time you flt.
Do you think this could fit in a dji phantom case? Thanks.
Hello John , great review ,Thanks. From the warm state of Alaska . I have one ,it came without batteries , got the 3000 for quad , what's to use for transmitter ???
About how much did you pay?
Hi John, have you experienced any glitches with your freeX?Lately when I fly my freeX it shakes in flight, like if it has a glitch even in GPS mode.
Thanks for a very good review,I am thinking of getting this quad. There seems to be a fair bit of setting up before you fly it.I expect most of the more sophisticated quads are like this.I have been flying for about 4 months with the Syma xc5C-1 and the Jjrc H8 and am thinking to upgrade to the Free x or Cheers on Cx-20 or Flying 3d X6. Having watched many videos on YouTube they all have their quirks and small issues. Just wondering which way to jump.
Great video. Very helpful information. Thank you.
Hello john..Where did you purchase the FreeX Skyview?
Thanks for the nice review and great flying John!
I added the prop guards to my FreeX, because the landing gear footprint was small enough that it often tipped over on landing. (A problem inherited from copying the Phantom design?).
My FreeX was a initial release pre-order, which came with a 2700mah battery – although now I have several 3000mah batteries sold directly from the factory (since they are an odd, proprietary size – most batteries for other vehicles just won't fit in the standard FreeX battery compartment. They now sell a bigger bottom fuselage for the FreeX to provide more space for the batteries, which may work directly with commonly available ones). I'd recommend getting a high quality balanced charger (like the Align one I have) to replace the stock FreeX charger, since it can charge the batteries in about a quarter the time.
My FreeX gimbal never worked at all (not an uncommon problem apparently, that the factory was totally unhelpful in doing anything to resolve), so eventually I just gave up on their gimbal altogether and attached my SJ4000 camera with a static mount that it came with – that works great for simple flight videos. The quality of the basic quadcopter seems to be a lot better than the gimbal – which was apparently made by a separate sub-contractor. The flight control software works perfectly (if upgraded to the latest firmware level) and makes this very easy and fun to fly. I've not observed any problems flying my FreeX in GPS Hold mode – which is great when there is significant wind.
Keep up the good work!
Hi john, have you purchased extra battery for the Freex? What brand and MAH?
I have SJ4000 and could not balance the gimbal with the cam. Any suggestions?
John, did you use the original free-x gimbal with the SJ6000 cam?
