How would you be able to watch your video feedback while flying with thad remote??
Great review Kelly. Should be posting mine in a day or so. One thing that I did is mount the FT Aviator to my Amazon tripod and adjust it to a comfortable height which made it very easy to fly.
Very great video Kelly I have a question lol Do you ever have people approach you and Phillip and ask you what you are doing? lol I’d be scared to try something like that idk I would like to try it though at spinup great video again Kelly ?????
I can really see how u can get very precise movement, and agility. I like the one stick control with a bit more work maybe if a new version that gets the hikup and nags u spoke on I would be interested in one stick control!
Wow! A whole different experience with this unit then Ken had. Now I want one. Have a Mavic Pro and am handicapped in a wheelchair. This would help me greatly. A little nervous about the tether situation to the remote but not a deal killer. I like the ability to mount this to my wheelchair AND see where the drone is on the Aviator. Very cool product. QUESTION: any issues with bluetooth connection?Appreciate your review and the video.
Wow! This is a very good idea!
1st Gen looks very clunky and hoakie to me Kelly! Needs lots of work to be more practical.
Looks to be a great alternative to the DJI controller. I totally agree with your comments in regards to the good and bad points. Hopefully, improvements could be accomplished for iPhone/iPad mounting. Eliminating the DJI remote would be the icing on the cake. Thanks for the great review. Ray ??
where is the “convenience” when you are burdened down with so much equipment to fly your drone … your hands were overloaded in this video, with the original controller hanging off your fingers … and too, you should have the antennas on the DJI controller pointing to the drone for the best reception possible, AND, from my point of view, it looks clumsy with all that stuff in ones hands …. I have looked at this from several points and cannot as of yet see spending that amount of money for a “joystick” … and like Ken, I don’t have a problem using two joysticks on a much smaller controller, which is lighter and easily held without a cable running to a secondary device … that is just my observation from viewing your video …. when and if they decide to make this device as a replacement for my current controller, then I may consider purchasing one, but I cannot see myself being loaded down like you appear to be in this video … thank you for this video and your review …
My only concern about this is it’s a third-party controller and if your drone crashes are you’re covered with your insurance through DJI? I highly doubt it. Thanks but I’ll pass.
Astronauts are all about tethering
What’s funny is when your drone is finding satellites it’s actually finding passenger planes ✈️ that act like satellite ?. Who really thinks your drone has 15 satellite connections
Glad you had better luck than Ken. I think it’s too complicated in the set up and clumsy because it doesn’t replace the controller, your still need it. What do you do with the controller? No thought was given to that. It would be much better if it replaced the controller entirely and had a transmitter built in you could bind to the drone. Great video Kelly. ??
Gday ,would your Dji care be voided if you accidentally crashed whilst using this platform.
Apple Watch causing the magnetic interference?
Question, does the standard remote still work or does this take over controls?
Wait, this just connects to the phone via Bluetooth doesn't it? I didn't see any connections from it to the remote or the phone.
Try clamping the remote onto the phone like normal with it in the FT phone holder. You can't just hold the stupid thing.
Your Drone SpinUp link doesn't work. You need to add ".com" to it.
Saw Ken Heron's video first (which is why I came to see your review, which he mentioned)…glad you had success with it, looks like there's a lot of potential with that with the RC Controller!
Does it work with the spark?
Really awesome controller. Excellent review Kelly!!
95% of people will not like this
Have a good years with God
From the scenes of the screen looks like using their app loses your intelligent flight modes like active track. They also need to ship this product with a RC adapter to connect your mavic remotes so you don't have to use your second hand holding your mavic remote. Kinda kills the whole concept of being a single hand controller. It's a pass until they integrate their app with DJI flight modes that are part of the cost of the drone (software R&D) and get some INCLUDED adapters that make it a truly one handed experience.
So, Kelly, I ordered one. When I got it I am going to design and print a mount that will mount the Joystick to the controller to the same place we put a phone in the jaws. I will let you know who it works if you are planning to buy one of the Joysticks.
I've had mine for a week and love it! I feel that it is much more precise, especially when giving multiple commands simultaneously. It "feels" like flying my old Piper J3 Cub.
Well, besides not being that serious I think Ken had the speed adjustment too high trying to fly slow in a confined area. Will a little more practice and a little less silliness I think he will get it. I know but you know that is Ken, don't hate on me.
Got to be honest with you I'm really not crazy about it
Good job on the review… See you at Spin up!!
Ya, I am really interested in this for my Mavic Pro Platinum. Seems to be it would be easy to design and 3D print a mount to join the two. Okay, I'm going over to check out Ken's video. Thanks Kelly
For tablet fliers who don't mind carrying a tripod to the field, you could use a studio light attachment made for photography to mount the tablet and FT Aviator as a unit on the tripod. These attachments have two tripod screws at either end, and a tripod socket in the middle. As a bonus, you could velcro the remote to the middle, and a tripod with a swivel head could be used to always orientate the DJI remotes antennas in the direction of the aircraft 🙂
Yes, finally right device which should be integral part of original dji controller. possibly could give comfort of precise maneuvers right hand while the left hand could close on image possibilities. Thanks for showing new innovative product. Hope that dji can't pass away this concept
Great review Kelley. ?
Great video…..?Just a quick question, if I fly with the DJI goggles and this stick control do I need the remote….?????
Thanks Kelly very good review I've invested in one and hope it will to what I want it to do, The biggest thing is that they get it working with the crystal Sky monitor. I Think this maybe what I'm looking for I hope
